Back to the Slum School

During his visit to Dhaka, our Secretary René Mulder visited several production partners as well as the slum school that has been financially supported by the Be The Planet Foundation since January 2025.

The students successfully completed their first school year. As the education system in Bangladesh follows the calendar year, they began their second year in January.

On the first day of the new school year, classes resumed with the same teacher, and new schoolbooks were available. In addition to subjects such as English, Bengali and mathematics, the curriculum has been expanded with Social Environment, a subject that focuses on themes including family, community and religion.

Samir and Samira were also present and, like their classmates, actively participated in the lessons. During the visit, the children proudly showed their written work and demonstrated their knowledge of the Bengali and English alphabets — enthusiastically and at considerable volume.

The visit provided valuable insight into the daily operations of the school and highlighted the importance of this learning environment for the children and their families. Education, structure and a safe environment form the foundation for their continued development.
